Dann wins BWC public records from Governor Taft
(Columbus)-Today Ohio Governor Bob Taft released weekly reports and records from former Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation Administrator James Conrad and Taft administration employee, James Samuel, that State Senator Marc Dann (D-Liberty Twp.) was seeking in his lawsuit against the Governor. The lawsuit was filed earlier this month with the Ohio Supreme Court.
“This is a victory for open government and for the taxpayers of the state of Ohio. I want to thank the people that helped us to make this happen, including the newspapers across the state that supported our position that no executive privilege exists, which is still the law in Ohio. I want to thank my colleagues on both sides of the aisle for their relentless work and support.”
“I hope that the Governor is sincere since this has been a highly contentious fight, and we have been scratching and clawing to get open records. We will review the records with care and trust, and then determine our legal obligations.”
“These records will finally allow us to begin the process of finding out what went so terribly wrong with the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation and how this pay-to-steal system was created.”
“I regret that Attorney General Jim Petro, Auditor Betty Montgomery, and Secretary of State J. Kenneth Blackwell didn’t stand up to the Governor and insist that that this happen sooner, but better late than never.”
“Now the real work begins. We owe it to injured workers, small business owners, and all Ohioans to restore their trust and confidence in government.”

Congratulations, Senator.
It goes to show what can be accomplished when Democrats stand and fight.
Keep fighting the corruption in Columbus.
