We can only hope that there is enough left of our justice system that someone will be able to connect the dots in this breathtaking scandal.

There is a mysterious connection that needs to be investigated (by bloggers?) and brought to light between Abramoff -> Greenberg Traurig -> The Election Center (R. Doug Lewis?) -> DIEBOLD -> HAVA -> Ney (R-OH 18) -> OH SOS Ken Blackwell.

Bits and pieces of information:

Diebold check stub to Abramoff's firm, Greenberg Traurig:

This one's a doozy: Diebold "Success fees" and a $100,000.00 "Unidentified security expense"

The ITAA, The Election Center & R. Doug Lewis (Who IS R. Doug Lewis?)

Quote from R. Doug Lewis BEFORE the 2004 Election: "We're not concerned about these polls," Doug Lewis, executive director of Election Center, a Houston-based voting reform center, said of Quinnipiac's opinion polls. "We're concerned about exit polls."

Ken Blackwell knew Diebold's machines were flawed

Bob Ney was the first person in line to battle Rush Holt's first Bill demanding paper trails and open source code. He went so far as to even DENY Holt the permission to have a hearing on it. This is how they are playing these days, Dems can't even hold hearings.

So as time went on, Holt got an unprecedented number of both Dems and Repubs to sign on and co sponsor his bill (HR 2239? Not sure if that's the number) and Ney eventually had to give in and allow a hearing. But the Bill didn't pass and Holt emerged the next year with his even better HR 550 which we are now trying to get passed.

Ney-- HAVA creator and major opponent to voter verification....something very wrong with this picture.

Something else worth looking into would be to see who all Jack Abramoff ever lobbied and on who's behalf, did Greenberg Traurig ever lobby the Ohio State Government at any level on Diebold's behalf. Somebody lobbied for those machines, the questions are who and why? A look at Ken Blackwell's campaign contributors might be in order and a check to see if he has been receiving gifts too.. It sure would be interesting to know who all was taking Gov. Taft on those golf trips..

That having been said if money from Abramoff or his clients passed through Ken Blackwell's hands, or the hands of Bush/Cheney04 in Ohio it could be incredibly damaging to Blackwell given what Bev Harris (of BlackBoxVoting.org) and others already have on him, and may lead to a criminal investigation. There's going to be all kinds of stuff coming out for weeks about Abramoff and who he dealt with, sooner or later a tidbit or two will turn up.

Whatever Abramoff touches is tainted and suspect, if Abramoff lobbied for Diebold touchscreens it could change the whole equation, even Ken Blackwell can't stay above the law forever, the Hammer himself has fallen, the GOP is in chaos, Ken Blackwell can't weather the storm forever.

Just sayin'- there's so much information available but who will piece it together to get the whole picture of what's going on? I think this is definitely a case of "we the people" doing our own investigating and spreading the information far and wide. Lord knows the MSM isn't going to do it...

BradBlog, VelvetRevolution, BlackBoxVoting, Mark Crispin Miller, all good places to find and share information.

For a comprehensive, interesting, well-documented place to start, please read and share the information at Who's Counting. If you can't get through the whole thing at least read "Who's Guarding the Guards?", "The Companies", "Pentagon, CIA and Cyber Wars", and "Technology" chapters.
